Why Become an MKC Memeber

Being a member of a kennel club is a wonderful opportunity to surround yourself with others who are passionate about dogs and enjoy activities such as training, sports, and showing. Because MKC is non-breed specific, there is a wide range of knowledge and skill amongst its members about a variety of topics. MKC membership also provides:

  • Access to a members online site that contains various resources

  • Priority registration in MKC agility classes

  • Participation in MKC holiday events and yearly awards banquet

  • Use of MKC agility yards for practice outside of class times (additional requirements)

  • Subscription to the monthly newsletter, “Whatta Matta”

  • Voting privileges regarding club activities and business

As an all-volunteer organization, we believe club members should actively support MKC activities. We strongly encourage participating and volunteering in trials, events, and classes to better serve our community.

Who Can Become an MKC Member

Anyone 18 years of age or older who has an interest in dog training, sports, or showing and who is in good standing with the American Kennel Club is welcome to apply. Junior Membership is open to young people between the ages of 9 and 18. An adult member of the club must sponsor the junior member.

How to Become an MKC Member

Anyone wishing to join MKC must complete and submit the membership application form and attend two general meetings within a six-month period. At the next meeting after a prospective member has attended two meetings, the general membership votes on whether to accept the individual as a new member. Annual dues and application fee must be paid within thirty days of admission to membership.

MKC Meetings

Club meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 7:30 pm at a facility in Manassas, virtually over Zoom, or, weather-permitting, outdoors at the club’s agility yards at the Prince William County Fairgrounds. MKC does not hold meetings in July and August. The September meeting takes place on the last Monday in August to avoid conflict with the Labor Day holiday
